where can i find the rules for determining redshirt status for ncaa division I football? This would be for freshman redshirt - not medical redshirt.
redshirt is very simple...to use a redshirt season a player must not participate during the season at all..even one minute or one play of a game would constitute as participation for the season, thus losing the ability to redshirt.
A full-ride D-IA football player is redshirting his freshman year. He finds that the school/program is not a good fit for a number of reasons. If he can get his coach's release, can his scholarship be picked up by another D-1A university in a different Conference and be able to play next season or must he sit out a year even though he won't play a down this season? Is dropping down a division his only option in order to play next year?
yes..he would have to drop to IAA, DII, DIII, or NAIA..in order to play next season...or sit out the year at a DI school.
The new SAT test scores in the news lately now include a 3rd section: ESSAY. Does this affect NCAA eligibility rules for freshmen?
I redshirted in wrestling my first year in fall 2004 for a D1 university. I was Hurt and had some family problems. I did not do so well on my grades and my family would not help me pay for college anymore. The last two year i have been working and making money. I plan on returning to a college or University and playing sports but not a D1 college. Since you have to have so much of your major done by certain points does that make me not eligible to wrestle anymore because i dont have the % ment. If so can I go off my college transcripts and enter college again as a freshman with no credits and start over.Also if i am not able to wrestle would i be aloud to play football or do all sports run off of the same five years to complete four years of competition. Basically what im trying to say is do i have the option of playing football for four years if i go back to school in fall 2007.

As of now the Essay (writing) portion you are referring to is not used in calculating freshmen eligibility status out of high school. But I have herd some chatter there may be plans to implement it in the future, but for now the same method is used- Math/Reading. what if a Coach refused to Medicial redshirt a freshmen even though the freshmen is still unable to play now and has only played (1) down this season. What is the proper percedure that needs to be done to have him Medically redshirted?
Also not to forget the freshmen fractured his FIBULA during football camp and has not healed yet.
Can an NCAA Division 1 baseball player be granted a redshirt if the training staff misdiagnosed an injury and the Stuident Athelete participated in a number of contests while they were figuring out what was wrong!
Eventually after I went in and demanded an x-ray it was done and The SA was found to have a broken foot and was shut down and put in a post operative boot.
Lucky for all that he did not require surgery as the bone set itself.

I competed one season at a DII school before having surgery and taking a medical redshirt for my second season. I am transfering to a DIII school, so I am eligable to compete 3 more seasons. Would i be able to take less than 12 credits my last semester at the DIII school?
A soccer player in a division 1 school has not played at all in competition. Can he request a redshirt so that he can get his 4 years eligibility whether he stays or transfers?
i do believe you can still redshirt after two games. I have a friend that just got hurt in our second game and was told he had the option to redshirt or wait two weeks and try and play. so you can still redshirt after two games. It might change between divisons becasue i play NAIA i dont know about D1 or D2

if someone playing d1 basketball were to redshirt his freshman year and then transfer, would he be able to play right away at that other school?
I was wondering if Softball reshirting had any different rules? Such as a limited number of at bats before you can redshirt etc... As a junior I have only participated on one inning as a pinch hitter, does that count?
D3 football player is redshirted. Can he after the fall term transferr to a D1 or D2 school? Also can he still work out with the team as a redshirt. Coach has told him he (the coach) can not have any contact wtih him at all?

My daughter plays Div 2 soccer. Freshmen year she played 3 games of a 16 game schedule and had to shut it down due to an injury. The coach said she would be redshirted.
Now a year latter she is saying there is a problem with her redshirting because she played in
