Questions/Answers

MK,
It depends if your son has been cleared by the clearinghouse or not. If he has been cleared, he should stay part time…but make sure the clep does not make him a full time student.

For the SA wanting to Model,
The NCAA rules state you can be involved in modeling as long as you have documented proof that you were involved in modeling before you became a student athlete in college.

CR,
The NCAA does not regulate scouting opposing teams practice.

For the volleyball scholarship question,
The school must either be a DII or a Junior college…never herd of both…any way, she can receive this as long as it does not go over a full scholarship for the institution.

My son was awarded a football scholarship to a NCAA Div 2 University. He is now in jeopardy of lossing the scholarship due to the wording of a class by his High school. My Son took Alg 1A & 1B instead of Alg1. This was how his HS offerd Alg 1. The NCAA will not give him a 1/2 credit for the 1A course as a core course or as an elective. This has now left him with only 13.5 credits and no way to correct it due to the time we were notified of this issue. My sone graduated with a 2.7 GPA and an 18 on his ACT. He also took ALG 2 & Geo and passed both.

Can you give me a reason why his Alg 1A would not at least be counted as an elective?

First thing you can do is call the clearinghouse and ask for an explanation as to why they are not counting the class. There could be multiple reasons..One could be the course is not on his high schools list of approved courses(48h)..or the class might not meet the definition of a core class as defined by the NCAA..the only way to truly know is to call the clearinghouse...you could also file an initial eligibility appeal through the NCAA.

Hi. I walked on to a Div I golf team my sophomore year (1998) and played three years. I did not walk on freshman year due to injury. I am now looking into Business School. Do I have a year of eligibilty left? Particularly in DIII, as I would like to play football? Thanks for any help you can provide.
