I am going into my junior year in high school. When should I register for the clearinghouse? Thanks

You should register by the end of your junior year...the earlier the better, and send them your transcripts and SAT or ACT score(if you have taken it)...they will do a preliminary evaluation to let you know if you are on track to qualify or not. good luck!!!

Can a Division 1-AA football player transfer to a Division 1-A school and play without sitting out a season? What if the reason for the transfer was disciplinary in nature? Is there a waiver possible?

At 4:55 PM, Blogger Compliance Guy said...

The rule is only from IA to IAA or DII. You can't go from IAA to IA without sitting out a year. But, if there is a situation that the NCAA would consider extraordinary, a waiver could be requested. Actually a USF football SA just recently was granted this type of waiver. see article.

Brock,
Most likely he can not...I know for DI he could not and DIII rules r similar. He would have to graduate from the 2 year school or have left the 4 year school in good academic standing. In addition he did not fulfill the NCAA definition of a year in residence at the 2 year school b/c he was not full time. I will check out the DIII rules for you..

Lak,
Yes your son could transfer to a DI school if he graduates and transfers in at least 24 credits from the 2 year school. He would also have to meet the percentage of degree requirements for a student entering their 4th year, which is 60% of their degree completed.

For the individual who joined the army. You may have eligibility left...your clock stops when you join the military...then begins again when you return.

is your eligibility measured by years attended or by credit hours?

In 1987 I went to a Division I college to wrestle. I wrestled for a few weeks and quit because of my shoulder. I stayed in school for a few semesters but flunked out because of partying too much. I went to a local community college and received my associates degree. It's 2006 and I am starting up classes again to get my bachelor's degree. Do I have any eligibility?

In addition to the above post about wrestling, I would be looking at a Division III college.

Thanks

I work for a mouthguard company called Shock Doctor. About five months ago we came out with a lower tooth mouthguard called the Gravity and many college teams like it because you can breathe and speak easier. Many equipment managers and trainers have told me that the Gravity does not violate any NCAA rules, but I am just checking with another source just to be sure.

Thanks

Is there a rule that says if you finished playing a college sport after 1988 and did not graduate and you were on scholarship that if you want to finish school it is suppose to be paid for by the school or the ncaa?

Is there any way a player can wear protective face gear while pitching? Maybe if made out of clear plastic?

What are the academic requirements for Division II?

I have a friend that attended a 4 yr school that was NAIA, then transfered to a NCAA DII 4yr school and sat out one year there but played the next season....Since he didn't use his onetime transfer, can he use it if he transfers to another NCAA DII 4yr school. The rule book never justifies if the one-time transfer rule could be used at another time. I just need some clarification. Thanks, LA

If a school promises

At 8:04 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

If a college promises a 'full scholarship' can they then demand that a player pay lab fees of $3000.00 plus?

If a student athlete plays two years at a division one program and gets released from that program to transfer, can that player take a year off completely, or take part time classes at a community college, without exhausting a year of eligibilty, before making the transfer to another D1 program? Or does a year get used because her eligibility clock has started? If so, can she use her red shirt year (5th yr) to compete?

I am a student with a learning disability and I am enrolled at a Division II University. I am attempting to play football this fall. I reported to school for fall training at the coaches request, only for him to tell me that I am ineligible. I have above a 2.0 and I have a total of 25 hours. I was told that this is what I needed to meet the eligibility requirements. My question is: Is there a waiver for college students with a documented learning disability?

What exactly are the rules for a jr. college student athlete to transfer to a Div II school to play and also receive an athletic scholarship.

My daughter was offered a scholarship from a DIV II school to play basketball. We were just told by the coach that she has not met the requirements which are an average of 12 hrs. per semester for a total of 24 hrs. her last yr. in college. She has completed a total of 25 hrs. 15 her fall semester and 10 her spring semester.

The coach now says that he will try to see if he can still give her the scholarship and have her practice with the team the fall semester. Can that happen? If that happens; can she play her Spring semester, or is she not eligible to play for the whole year?

I am currently a full scholarship student-athlete at the d1 level. I was wondering if there were rules that would ban me from participating in a Miss USA contest along with modeling. I have been under contract with a modeling agency for a year but have not done any jobs due to a lack of understanding of the rules. I did not receive my contract due to my athletic abilities by any means. I dont even think my agency knows i am an athlete. Thanks for your help!

I am a member of a high school volleyball coaches organization in Ohio. We give $300 scholarships to a player in each division. Currently, one of the scholarhip winners will be attending a DII junior college where her athletic scholarship covers her tuition. Can she still receive the scholarship to cover her room and board if the college offers none? Can the check be written to her?

We had a paid employee of another university visit an open spring football practice. He was caught taking notes. We play them our first game. Isn't this a rule infraction?

My son was in a 2 year -Jr. college program in Rockford, ill. The coach recently suspended him because of an incident in his apartment -he was on the lease with his roomate - and his roomate was involved in an incident. The coach suspended my son from the football program for a year! I think it was not fair because the incident didn't involve my son but he said because my son is on the lease - he is responsible. He said that he as a coach had to do something because he was getting heat from the President of the school ot set an expample to the other team mates. Will this affect my son after he graduate from the 2 year school and wants to attend a university to play football? please help me and give me some solid advice on how we should handle this, my son has 10 day eviction notice as well....

Mrs.J

If you make what would be described in NCAA standards as an Official Visit to an NAIA school does that visit count as one of the five Official Visits allowed by the NCAA for recruiting? Dutch

I just want to know if there is a rule against rostering players after the start of the season, or if coaches are allowed to do it. It would be a student attending the school, d1, and for soccer.

Thanks,
Jesse

What are the rules for coach player contact for a D3 player looking to transfer to DI DII or IAA? And can the player, players parent or personal trainer contact and have conversation with the coaches at the school the player wishes to transfer to?

If one plays for a Div1 basketball team and is a walk-on, and does not get much playing time, do you still lose a year of eligibilty? For instance 3 minutes and only appearing in 3 games.

I saw a similar question and possible answer but didn't quite understand. Can a D2 athelete transfer to a D1A school without losing a year of eligibility? I thought I read that they could.

I am from florida and went to the university of tennessee as a football walk on last year unforetunately because of the heavy work load and financial strain i failed out of the school and have returned home to start rebuilding my course for playing football. I will be going to a community college to repair my GPA and I know that an A.A. is required to transfer to FAU and play football I just wanted to know about how many years of eligibility I would have because i have never actually played on an NCAA team yet. If i went into FAU with an A.A. but never played at the University of Tennessee would i have 2 years of eligibility or 4 if i planned on continuing my education further at FAU. Anyone with a sufficient answer can Email me at Palaciosd_web@yahoo.com
